What Everybody Ought to Know About Writing Great Articles
Category: HOME BUSINESS
In spite of knowing that writing articles is the very best free marketing on the planet, there are many people who would rather chop off their leg with a chainsaw than write papers or articles. They believe it is just too much work which is all wasted when no one reads what they write anyway. On the other end of the equation, some people think reading those articles is a tedious chore, especially when the article is boring and bland. Well, articles are meant to be read, it’s their very reason for existing - to impart their message and spread their information. An unread article really is a waste of time and effort.
To be sure the articles you write get read and enjoyed, here are 6 simple techniques to keep your audience reading:
1) Use short paragraphs.
When the paragraphs are very long, the words get jumbled in the mind of the reader just looking at it. It seems confusing and too much of a chore to read all the way through. Your reader will quickly jump past that long paragraph and move on to much easier reading articles that are nice to look at as well as to read. Paragraphs can be a single sentence, sometimes even a single word! Remember - 8th grade level works.
2) Use numbers and bullets.
Numbers or bullets make your point easy to follow, remember and digest. Readers will see this is the heart of the article.Their attention can flow easily down the structure of your article. Format your bullets and numbers so your article doesn’t appear like a single block of square paragraphs. Throw in a little bit of flair attention to the shape of your articles. At least on the ones where the format is under your control.
3) Sub-divide your paragraphs too.
This breaks down each important point into easy to absorb nuggets of information that will still read like part of the whole. Makes it simple for the reader to follow from one point to the next with no problem. This will trap your reader long enough to make your point.
4) Provide a good attention-grabbing title or headline.
Go out and study the headlines of the great copywriters. A title that makes your reader curious gets you most of the way to your goal of getting your article read. Include statements and questions with keywords people are looking for. Describe your article’s content in a short and concise manner with your subtitles.
Titles like, “7 Tips To Make Her Start Stalking You Today”, or “The Secret To Making Her Faint When She Hears Your Voice” incite curiosity. Titles that command people work as well, such as “Make Her Yours In Six Easy Steps”. Titles should draw attention on their own.
5) Keep up a fast pace.
Use stories and real situations to draw in your reader. Descriptive language and the use of metaphors can keep your reader’s interest while you make your point. Don’t go overboard with flowery language, though, just to build up your word count. People still want the information quickly.
6) Use specific facts and numbers when you can. Keep away from ordinary and weak statements.
Specific facts and figures make your article stronger by making it authoritative. But don’t make it too formal. This is not your college thesis.
Writing a great article does not have to be a tedious chore. The above are just a few quick points to watch out for. Some simple guidelines you can use to improve your articles. Writing articles can be fun and profitable once you get the hang of it.
