Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid, of Working at Home

Category: HOME BUSINESS

by David Gates

Do you want the freedom of working for yourself, not someone else? Do you desire a generous income working from your own home? It’s possible to achieve this, but beware! There actually are some excellent work from home programs that will satisfy these desires, but there are vastly more that are simply scams, set up to steal your energy, hope and of course your money.

Thanks to e-commerce (\”Electronic Commerce\”) and the Internet, millions of people make a handsome amount of income by working online jobs. These people can be found all around the world, working from their own homes.

However as the saying goes ‘there are always two sides to the coin.’ There are literally tens of thousands of men and women who have spent a few hundred dollars in the hope that they would generate a good amount of money using the Internet, and ended up getting frustrated and feeling betrayed.

If you search online using phrases like \”work from home\” or \”online jobs\” you will be amazed to find thousands of websites making hard to believe claims of earning a six-figure income doing \”almost nothing.\” Is it possible, or are these just scams? Of course, that’s the problem - how can you know who to believe? Are the pictures of fancy cars, luxurious homes and gorgeous pools real or just hype?

It is certainly difficult to tell the real from the bogus. Some tell-tale signs may help you pick the scammers out, though. Companies that try to lure you in with professional-looking photographs of aircraft, expensive cars, homes and a luxurious lifestyle are probably bogus. They probably bought the photographs from a stock photography company. Look for realistic-looking photographs - the sort an ordinary person might take as a snapshot.

Look carefully for outrageous or unbelievable claims. Nobody is going to make a million dollars in their first year in any legitimate online business. Companies which are genuine are not going to make such crazy claims. Only trust companies which have a solid and positive track record at industry watchdog organizations. Online forums are extremely useful ways to read other people’s opinions of companies, and to discover genuine online jobs.

Listen, you can easily fall prey to bogus companies if you don’t get at least a little training about how to spot them. There are a good number of legitimate home business reviews available on the Internet. Check them out before you buy into anything.

Before spending a single dollar, do your research. Most of the fraudulent companies require a one-time membership (sometimes ongoing) of around $100 or more. It’s possible some of these are real businesses which do provide you with real work and reasonable incomes. But many are not, so beware. It’s not just the subscription money you risk, either - you will waste your time, which in the end is far more valuable. Finally, realize that scammers will continue to ask for more money once they get their hooks into you.
